2024 sète, lisbonneDuring the Sète-Lisbon Contemporary Art Biennial (SLA), two monumental tapestries are on display. Each tapestry, measuring 5 by 6 meters, was handcrafted from textiles individually dyed with indigo. These textile works reference Portuguese decorative azulejos tiles, paying homage to architectural motifs that here highlight the invisible worlds of Earth and Sea. The pieces are made from scraps of cotton, linen, and silk to achieve a range of blue.
